Buy art because you like it, because it moves you, and because it will enhance your life.This should be obvious, but this golden rule is actually often given a low priority by novice art collectors, much to their regret later on.Remember, art is meant to be displayed and enjoyed. Don’t buy anything which doesn’t appeal to you.

Explore.  Visit as many art galleries as you can, gallery staff can be helpful guides in your art education. The more you know about the subject, the better. Read books and articles on art history and about collecting art.

Start your collection by purchasing limited edition prints. It can be a relatively inexpensive way to start a collection, which may yield good returns in the long run.

Collect the works of living artists. You will be assured of buying an authentic Artwork and will have the great satisfaction of supporting a favorite artist. Art from artists that can earn a living doing art are more likely to increase in value over time.
